HTC has managed to create a new buzz in the smartphone industry with its new smartphone, the HTC One X. The HTC One X is a flagship phone of HTC One Series of smartphones. The other smartphones in this series are the HTC One V and HTC One S.
HTC One X has some great unique features which makes it stand out from the rest of the smartphones in its league. The phone runs on 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, which has been proven to be a boon for Android gaming apps. NVIDIA Tegra 3 has great processing power, which makes applications even more snappier than a dual-core processor. The phone also comes installed with the newly developed HTC Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”.Design & Display
HTC One X has a 4.7-inch screen, with true HD(720p) resolution and pixel density of 312 ppi. The screen is one of the best displays on Android smartphones till date. The phone weighs 130g, with a thickness of just 8.9mm (thinner than iPhone 4S but thicker than Samsung Galaxy SII). HTC has also opted to use a microSIM, which might cause some problems for inexperienced users. The phone is available in black and white colours.
HardwareThe phone runs on 1.5GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, with a discreet “fifth” core. The fifth core consumes minimum battery and is responsible for processing idle applications and background data.
The phone does not have a microSD slot but has 32GB in-built storage and 25GB Dropbox storage for 2 years which compensates well for it.
One X features an 8megapixel lens, BSI sensor and has included its own image processing chip, taking yet another step towards quality image capturing. The camera is capable of recording videos at 1080p, and capturing photos continuously.
Software
Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” with HTC Sense 4.0 has managed to introduce whole lot of new features. HTC Sense displays recent apps in a different fashion compared to stock ICS, displaying them in full screen format.
Beats Audio is another great feature in the One series, enhancing music experience for the user.
One X makes use of the stock Android ICS browser to speed up page loading. According to ITPro, the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark clocked a time of 1977.9ms against 2245ms of iPhone 4S. Flash is also an optional feature, which can be disabled or turned “on demand” by the user.
Battery
HTC has taken yet another step towards mobile innovation with the introduction of a built-in battery in the One X. One X has an 1800mAh battery, which is sufficient for a day’s usage. With moderate day to day usage, the battery holds well for over eight hours.
HTC One X is available SIM-free for Rs. 37k in India and £489 in UK. It is also available for £32 per month on contract.
